“New York City's newest, most visionary brass group, present the very best of original, contemporary chamber music for brass” Chamber Music America

NYCBDrawing together an eclectic and classy mix of New York’s most distinguished brass players, New York-based trumpeter Graham Ashton, formed New York Chamber Brass in spring 2009. Ashton, who trained at the Royal Academy in London, has a long and impressive international career as a performer and educator. He has appeared as a soloist with such notables as the BBC Symphony, New York Virtuosi, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Frank Zappa’s Orchestra of Our Time and FIRES-New York.

Ashton says: “New York is one of the most eclectic and cosmopolitan cities in the world, the idea was to create a dynamic, modern ensemble that would reflect that energy and edginess with the best players the city had to offer - we promise unparalleled, virtuosic performances featuring the very best of original, contemporary music for brass”.
The members of New York Chamber Brass are Graham Ashton & Rich Clymer (trumpets), PeterReit (horn), Tim Albright (trombone), and Marcus Rojas (tuba). All are committed to a single artistic vision to promote the best quality brass chamber music of our time through innovative performances and recordings.

New York Chamber Brass repertoire is compellingly diverse, encompassing all the significant quintets specifically written for brass. This season’s programs include the virtuosic quintets of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Luciano Berio, Hans Werner Henze and Alvin Etler, plus a new commission from Californian composer Chris Dobrian. Further concerts feature cross-genre collaborations with exhibitions at the Neuberger Museum in New York and Getty in LA, together with performances of Elgar Howarth’s theatrical work Brass Belles, and Graham Ashton’s score for G.W.Pabst’s 1925 silent movie Secrets of a Soul
